Taking Therapy Outside: An Introduction to Nature-Based Counselling Practice

Supporting counsellors to explore outdoor practice with confidence, curiosity and care

Nature-based counselling offers a unique opportunity to combine the therapeutic relationship with the restorative qualities of the natural world.

For many counsellors, the idea of taking their practice outdoors can feel both inspiring and daunting. Questions around boundaries, ethics, safety and practicalities are important considerations when developing an outdoor practice.

Having developed my own nature-based counselling practice, I understand both the opportunities and the practical considerations involved in working outdoors.

This training has been created to support counsellors who are curious about bringing nature into their work and want to develop their practice in a safe, ethical and meaningful way.

This two-hour CPD training provides a supportive introduction to the key considerations involved in offering nature-based counselling, helping you begin this journey with greater confidence.

What we'll explore

During this training, we will cover:

  • Assessing whether outdoor practice is right for you and your clients.

  • Contracting, boundaries and ethical considerations.

  • Risk assessment and insurance.

  • Working with weather and the changing seasons.
